Silk was born in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay is the mother of Peter, a teacher and a leading actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. The earliest memories of Anna included going to rehearsals and watching her mother do her job. Silk created a variety of commercials while she was still a kid. In 1997, she earned her bachelor's degree at St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas was involved in at least two early theater productions that included Seven Menus (1997) and The Kitchen (1999). Silk was able to move to Toronto to Los Angeles in the decade following 1999. Seth Cooperman was her future husband when she met him in 2007 in an actor's workshop in Los Angeles. The couple was married civilly in December 2009. They renewed their vows on April 10, 2011 in Fredericton, after the bride changed her religion to Judaism.
