Lisa Olivia Munn grew up in Oklahoma City. Kimberly Schmid is of Chinese origin and grew up during the war in Vietnam. Her father Winston Barrett Munn is from an American family with deep roots in America's South. Olivia was only two when her parents split up. Her family consisted of her stepfather as well as her mother who was a United States Air Force member. The majority of her childhood was spent in Tokyo, Japan, even although the family moved often. At the time, she participated in many shows in the area as well as becoming an Japanese fashion model. Olivia relocated from her home in the United States back to Los Angeles and pursued the dream of becoming an actor. After a few minor roles, Olivia found success when she got the role as Mily Acua on the Hawaii television series Beyond the Break 2006 and the receptionist for Rob Schneider. In the age of two, her mother got married. The second time, she got married to the son of a US Air Force serviceman. Though the family had moved several times, the majority of her life was spent in Tokyo Japan in Japan, which is the area that her stepfather was employed by the military. She studied journalism in the University of Oklahoma and also minored Japanese as well as dramatic arts and drama.
